Historical Medical Photography: Dermatographic Urticaria

The staff at the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Washington DC have uploaded to Flickr a large collection of photos from its archives available under a Creative Commons license. This is an example of dermatographic urticaria from the year 1945:

"Dermographia on a patient's back. This is not a scar; the raised marks are caused by scratches or irritation to the skin and aren't permanent."
